Pink dogwood

A dog wood bud just starting to open.
The colors of the youngest buds are more saturated, almost like sunset colors.
In the next step the bracts open out.
Still vibrant at the edges, razzmatazz pink.
Fully opened out dogwood bracts flopping in the wind beside one just about to open.
Opened out the colors become a little more muted, but still lovely.

These flowers are mostly showy in mass, the individual bloom is not a show stopper, like the rose, but when the morning sun hits them the opening buds have a lovely delicacy, both in form and in color.

For Weekly Prompts weekend challenge: Razzmatazz and Cee’s Flower of the Day.
