I do not know what the actual name of this plant is (please let me know if you do). I call it purple velvet. The hummingbirds like it but they fly away when the pups approach. Today the light was just right.
Gan Xingfu (chasing happiness) 赶兴福
This November I am chasing happiness by photographing and sharing one lovely thing I see each day. I do edit the photos, often with an artistic effect like the one above, because playing with a lovely thing makes me happy.
Note: My son checked with his co-workers and, while they haven’t heard the phrase gan xingfu, they thought it was just fine to use.
For more explanation about this project check out this post: Whatsoever is lovely…day 1.
This is posted for Nanopoblano and Cee’s Flower of the Day.
It looks like a salvia, but I could be wrong. Hummingbirds love salvia.

I’ll look up salvia. I think I may want to get some for my hummingbird garden. The color is amazing…and almost everything else has died back for the season.

They kinda look like Lupine but not the leaves which the hummers love in the wild of Utah. Mine in NE Tennessee Tennessee headed south well over a month ago leaving my 10 foot canna lilies (well above feral cats reach) and how a small bird can fly that far leading the way for Canadian Geese witch fly 15,000 feet higher is certainly a wonder of Mother Nature 😉
