Whatsoever is Lovely Challenge-2023 Week 5

This challenge is simple: step back for a few minutes each week to find a lovely thing, a precious moment, anything you find lovely. Then post about it. You can just post a picture or you can go into detail and tell it as a reflection, story or poem.

It could be anything:

a smile…a rainbow…a flower…a kind act…a tasty treat

What was lovely in your life this week?

Lovely posts from last week

My lovely for this week

This week we inched closer to spring. The sunset is now after 5 pm (woohoo!).

I took the dogs out for the first beach walk of the year-the tides have been too high until now. (In the winter the low tides are at night). It was a little bitter-sweet because it was our first walk without Asta, who loved running on the beach.

The sweet box, Sarcococca confusa, is blooming. You can smell it from a block away. The flowers aren’t flashy. I wonder how something so tiny can send out such a strong aroma.

…last, but not least, some of the more precocious rhodies are starting to strut their stuff.

I hope they aren’t starting too soon. hard freezes are predicted in the next few days.

Join in!

I will post once a week, Sunday at noon in Seattle (8pm GMT) is my goal, and put a list of posts from the previous week in it. Basically using the same method I do with the Pull up a Seat Challenge. Detailed instructions are on the page: Whatsoever is lovely blog challenge.

Background

We live in a world that seems to value drama, anger, fear and violence. Being mean often passes for being smart. These are the things that “go viral”, magnified in the media. Sometimes, the things that really make life worth living are small and simple. They don’t make for good TikTok. This is a chance to share that type of moment from our lives.

  1. I hope a hard freeze downs take out the blooms
And the way you described the scent I could almost smell it over here

And we have not had any snow yet in our area and I was hoping for a little before winter ends
(I guess that is nice to live with a mild winter to where we want a bit of snow)
Hope you have a great week
