Badge for one-to-three photo processing challenge.

One-to-Three Photo Processing Challenge

The challenge is simple: take one photo and get creative with it by processing it three different ways. I’ll do a start up post on the first of each month, including a round up of entries from the preceding month, so we can all share in the creativity and fun.

To join in create a pingback or write a comment below that includes the URL to your post.

I started this challenge on my other web site, theSquirrelChase.com. I am moving it over here because I couldn’t get ping backs to work on that site. I haven’t had that problem on this site, so I decided not to fight it any more.

Here are the contributions for December 2022

Here’s my February 2023 contribution:

This is an old photo from a trip to the Chinese city of Penglai in October of 2017. The lady in red caught my eye.

The original photo is in the first frame. The black and white uses the Nik Silver Effects plug in for the GIMP, I created it with the preset: High Structure, smooth. The third version is the first two combined: the black and white layer was placed over the original and I set the blend mode to soft light.. The last version used the G’mic plug in for the GIMP: the Illustration Look in the Artistic collection.

Challenge Background

Since having to isolate due to the pandemic, last spring, I’ve been doing a lot of experimentation with photo processing and I thought it might be fun to share some of the things I’ve discovered and see what others are doing.

I’m hosting the challenge on the other site to try and keep my WordPress.org skills alive.

    1. She was definitely styling, but it felt like she was wearing her clothes, they weren’t wearing her. We saw her several times as we all passed through the Penglai complex of shrines that day. There was an air of un-self-consciousness about her, even though she was brightly dressed.
