Here’s a few from my archives

These were architecturally a great match for the space, the Microsoft Auditorium at Seattle Central Library, but not particularly comfortable.

Here is my contribution for this week:

This old gentleman stared then smiled at me, which made me smile. He was just sitting out and enjoying a nice fall day, visiting with people passing and keeping an eye on the neighborhood. This is an older portion of town, but the modern buildings are looming on the horizon.

Over to you.

My contribution:

I am visiting my son in Shouguang, Shandong Province, China. As I have mentioned in a couple of other recent posts, there is a lovely river that has long stretches of park that runs along the east side of town. In nice weather I like to walk there in the mornings. There are several benches, it’s a great place to people watch.

Here are a few things I saw sitting on one of the benches in the first picture:

This gorgeous, but uncomfortable looking, pair of antique Chinese chairs was in the lobby of my hotel in Qingdao. Can you imagine how long it must have taken the maker to do all of the intricate artwork?

Over to you.

Follow up: the seat I showed in last week’s post was for jockey training.

Here are my photos for this week. They take a sober turn. I almost cried when I saw this and realized that someone had built a makeshift shelter from two dumped sofas and some other desert trash.

I took these photos in late August, in the desert, in an area where people, especially contractors, dump many things in order to avoid paying the fees at the local landfill. It appeared unoccupied, so hopefully its builder found a safer refuge from the elements.

Over to you (hopefully on a happier note).

Here are my photos for this week. These were taken several years ago in the Kitui area of Kenya, most in the village of Mulundi.

Men sitting:

Women sitting (notice the difference?)

Finally a rest: Working hard all week makes Sundays extra special. The worship services are a real celebration with a lot of singing and dancing. These catholic ladies are wearing choir clothes, so they probably earned a rest. I saw them perform at a village function and they are really wonderful. I smile just remembering.
