These caught my eye this morning. The wisteria is just starting to come into bloom.

The blossoms on my Japanese maple tree are tiny and sway in the slightest breeze. Every year I try to capture these tiny charmers with my camera. Here are a few attempts from last week.
Cactus flowers always seem impossible to me: the low-key green, stubby, prickly stems don’t seem to go with the ethereal and delicate and brilliant exotic flowers.
This lovely was blooming when I went for a walk this morning.

My amaryllises are still going strong, but I think this may be their last hurrah for the year. The three bulbs have been providing cheer continuously since the beginning of December. I’m not generally a great lover of red but the weather has been cloudy and I’ve really been enjoying the different shades of red and the way the light plays on the petals.
The one that started the display in early December is also the one that has one still unopened bud. Obviously an over achiever in more than one way!

This set of amaryllises started blooming in early December. They are still blooming happily.
In early January I published a post about a flower bud. I wasn’t sure what it was. I still don’t know, but when I walked the dogs this afternoon it was blooming. It smells lovely.
The plum blossom is an important symbol in Chinese culture. One of the “four gentlemen” in traditional painting. Here is an interesting article about it’s symbolism in China (the Epoch Times can be a bit weird, but this article is pretty good). It’s symbolizing of hope in hardship and regeneration of life seems appropriate to the current epidemic.
Wishing all in China (which includes my son, who is not ill, or in a particularly dangerous area, but is starting week 3 of a lock down in his community) hope and courage in the face of this crisis.
Photos of my world and other stuff I hope you will enjoy too. Photos taken with Canon PowershotSX70HS Photos can be purchased.
