Goodbye, February, it’s been real

It really rained yesterday and I noticed this bright, cheerful camellia when out with the dogs. It reminded me of how we sometimes walk when caught out in the rain, facing slightly down, the little petal almost looks like a hand put over to shield the eyes.

Bright ending

The header is the last on card for the year 2021. I added the one below, next to last on card, same flower from a different angle. It shows more of the full glory.

Red and white variegated amaryllis is the star of y Christmas window display. — Next to last on card.

This amaryllis is the dominant subject of my photography since it started to emerge in the middle of December. It’s the only living Christmas decoration for this year, and I find its red and white stripes cheerful, especially on glum days.

This is the last photo I took in July. As I looked at it I realized that it has an extraordinary range of red in it: From the rusty red of the pollen through burgundy in its speckles over to magenta in the petals.

I may need to try and do some art with this one.
