I noticed the flowers turning into the signature “helicopters” of maple trees while out walking the dogs today. This is a big leaf maple, a native here in the Puget Sound region.
I looked it up and the maple’s fruit is called “samaras”.
My maple tree looks pretty much the same all summer, lush and green, and all winter, bare branches. But spring and fall are times of change, it looks a little bit different everyday.
