From my archinves, we saw this a few years ago while exploring the Seattle waterfront. Sculpture is called “Welcoming Spirits” by Melvin Schuler, dated 1997.
These are displayed in the Maritime Museum in Auckland New Zealand.
These old cranes decorated the Puerto Madero area in Buenos Aires, Argentina. My dad, an old crane engineer was thrilled to see them and kept saying what a good idea it was…and talking about how expensive it had been for the Port of Seattle to get rid of it’s cranes of the same vintage.
A couple of bronze sculptures in Yreka California.
In the lobby at the Auckland Botanical Gardens they had several sculptures for sale. Lovely work but no way to get it home. Here are a few that I really liked.
Another sculpture from the Auckland Botanical Gardens. More uplifting than the one last week.
This sculpture brought tears to my eyes. It was one of the Sculptures in the Garden at Auckland Botanical Garden.
This is part of this year’s Sculpture in the Gardens at Auckland Botanical Gardens. It is by artist Jane Downes.
Yes, there were some real bees in the same garden:
We were lucky enough to happen on the Sculpture in the Gardens while killing time waiting for our late night flight home. The Auckland Botanical Gardens were lovely and it was easy to get there using local buses. I’ll share a few more from this exhibit in the next few weeks.
