A sunbreak on a stormy day

Today was very stormy. Fortunately for the dogs the brief break in the weather coincided with a low enough tide that they could have a brief run on the beach before those dark clouds arrived and started dumping on us.

This November I am chasing happiness by photographing and sharing one lovely thing I see each day. I do edit the photos, often with an artistic effect like the one above, because playing with a lovely thing makes me happy.

Note: My son checked with his co-workers and, while they haven’t heard the phrase gan xingfu, they thought it was just fine to use.

November gold

Lovely weather today makes a nice change of pace. It’s been a calm golden day, a mere pause though: Yesterday was very dark and rainy and I saw an article that called our upcoming weather pattern a “roller coaster”.

An early morning rainbow

It was a full arc but I couldn’t get a good angle to show the whole thing in one frame. I got wet taking these. It takes both sun and rain to make a rainbow.

The sun’ll come out tomorrow

I can’t get the Orphan Annie song out of my head. Yesterday was very stormy: wind, rain, hail. Lots of people in our state still don’t have power. But this morning the sun was out and all was calm. A beautiful fall day.

The only signs of yesterday’s tempest in my yard this morning were the leaves on the ground and some of the hail was still unmelted. We were fortunate. With yesterday’s wind I was surprised that there were any leaves left on the tree.

One of the clues in the morning crossword was “comic strip orphan”. The song jumped into my head and won’t go away.
